Wealth Advisor Institute and FamilyOfficeNetwork in cross-promo partnership. The Wealth Advisor Institute (WAI), a Washington, D.C.-based association of wealth-management professionals, and advisor-client communication platform maker FamilyOfficeNetwork have entered into a marketing and resource-sharing alliance.

Cross promotion

"Forming an alliance with [WAI] was a natural fit," says Peter Wheeler, founder and managing partner of FamilyOfficeNetwork. "The Wealth Advisor Institute encourages collaboration and networking among multiple wealth advisors for the ultimate benefit of increasing client services, which is precisely what FamilyOfficeNetwork was designed to do."

As a result of the alliance, FamilyOfficeNetwork users who become WAI members will be able to access WAI's web-based advisor directory services and become eligible to enroll in its group health- and life-insurance coverage plan -- things they'd get in any case as WAI members. WAI in turn will promote the FamilyOfficeNetwork to its membership.

Keith Gregg, WAI's chairman and president of San Diego-based broker-dealer First Allied Securities, says that WAI members are likely " to take full advantage of the online communication and organizational tools provided by the FamilyOfficeNetwork" while FamilyOfficeNetwork's clients "who have already demonstrated a keen awareness of the importance of networking and connectivity" by virtue of using the platform, "will immediately recognize the benefits of WAI membership."

In addition to running FamilyOfficeNetwork, Wheeler is CEO of San Diego-based investment advisor Wheeler/Frost Associates. -FWR
