ABN Amro to Provide Information to RBS Consortium

ABN Amro has agreed to provide the Royal Bank of Scotland, Santander and Fortis consortium with the same information that was previously shared with Barclays, subject to signing confidentiality agreements, according to a statement by the bank. The statement continues: “Although the consortium has provided few additional details with respect to its proposals, this decision is in line with ABN Amro's on-going commitment to consider value creating opportunities for shareholders.” The consortium has proposed a €72 billion ($98 billion) break-up bid for ABN Amro, thought to be a mixture of cash and shares, compared to Barclays’ €66 billion all share offer.
