Aberdeen Prioritises Diversified Growth Strategy With Senior Hire

Aberdeen Asset Management has boosted its investment solutions team with the appointment of Baillie Gifford's Mike Brooks.

Aberdeen Asset Management has hired Mike Brooks as co-lead to drive its diversified growth investment offering alongside Mike Turner.

Brooks joins after almost 15 years at Baillie Gifford, where he was most recently co-founder and investment manager on the Baillie Gifford Diversified Growth Fund.

In his new capacity within Aberdeen's investment solutions team, Brooks will liaise with the multi-asset portfolio management and research teams.

Aberdeen's Diversified Growth strategy, launched in 2011, targets a diversified multi-asset portfolio with lower volatility, across a market cycle, compared to traditional equity-based strategies.

“Mike is a seasoned investor with a proven competency in constructing well-diversified real return portfolios that deliver on their objectives,” said Archie Struthers, global head of investment solutions at Aberdeen Asset Management.

“His appointment is a clear sign of Aberdeen’s long-term commitment to leadership in the diversified growth investment arena and strengthens further our team and product capability.”

As of 30 September 2014, Aberdeen's investment solutions team employs around 60 investment staff managing more than £85 billion ($129 billion) in multi-asset portfolios for clients worldwide. The asset manager last week recorded a fall in assets under management towards the end of last year.
