Aberdeen, Institute Of Financial Planning Launch New Advisor Seminar Programme

The Institute of Financial Planning has teamed up with Aberdeen Asset Management to run a series of educational seminars for advisors across UK cities called Adviser Intelligence.

Several firms are offering such education programmes to advisors in the run-up to the implementation of the Retail Distribution Review’s package of reforms, which comes into force at the end of 2012. Amid the sweeping changes, such as new mandatory qualifications and a move to fee-based models, it is unsurprising that some advisors feel bewildered by the changes, even though the predicted exodus from the industry which some have predicted has largely failed to materialise.

The Adviser Intelligence programme will cover topics such as operational issues and regulatory changes, and the content will be dictated by advisors voting for what they would like to see and the guidance of an advisory panel of industry experts.

“As we approach January 2013, it’s more important than ever that we work with advisors to identify their learning and development priorities…. We hope it [the programme] will provide useful solutions which will help advisors improve not only their technical knowledge, but also their business processes.”

The first seminar, which will be held in London, will be on the subject of remuneration models.
