Wilmington Trust, part of M&T Bank, has brought in Frederick Hopkins as a Baltimore-based senior relationship manager, as the firm looks to target more high net worth individuals throughout Maryland.

Hopkins joins from Legg Mason Investment Counsel, where he was a principal and advised high net worth clients in Baltimore.

Will Garlow, group vice president of Wilmington Trust's Maryland-based wealth management team, said the firm is expanding its office there to serve HNW clients in Baltimore and throughout Maryland.

In December, rankings from Phoenix Marketing International revealed that Maryland has edged out Hawaii and New Jersey to become the state with the most millionaires per capita. Phoenix’s Global Wealth Monitor found that some 7.31 per cent of Maryland’s households were millionaire households.

Wilmington Trust’s wealth advisory service offers trust, financial planning, fiduciary, asset management and family office services to HNW individuals.
