Investec
Wealth & Investment has appointed Ian Burrows as senior
investment director in its charities team, based in the
Birmingham office.
The appointment is the latest in a series of new hires as Investec boosts its team of investment managers and financial planners throughout its wealth management business.
Burrows, who has over 20 years’ industry experience, joins from Brewin Dolphin where he was head of the charities in the Midlands, the firm said in a statement. Prior to that, he was with Cave and Sons Stockbrokers. He is experienced in looking after a wide range of charity and not-for-profit clients, including advising on responsible investment and consulting on investment strategy.

Fulcrum Asset
Management announced this week that Patrick Forde, Gerin
Tertilt and Filippo Cartiglia are joining its partnership,
bringing the total number of partners to 18.
Forde joined the Fulcrum trading desk in 2015 and was appointed
head trader in 2019. His expertise with technology has enabled
Fulcrum to be early-adopters in many areas, the firm said in a
statement. Tertilt joined the investment team at Fulcrum in 2017
after four years with PIMCO as a fixed income portfolio manager.
The firm said he has been central to the evolution of Fulcrum’s
macro portfolio management discipline and has led many of its
technology developments in the area. Cartiglia joined Fulcrum in
2019. He was previously chief international economist and partner
at a hedge fund and prior to that had worked at Goldman Sachs
International’s economic research group based in
London.
Hawksmoor Investment Management
Former CIO at Hawksmoor
Investment Management Jim Wood-Smith will
be retiring in October after working for five decades.
He joined Hawksmoor in 2014 as chief investment officer of the firm’s private clients’ arm, developing its range of investment solutions. He stepped back from the role last August to be become market commentator and head of climate transition. Prior to Hawksmoor, Wood-Smith was with Gerrard as head of research, and with Investec Wealth Management as chief investment strategist, the firm said in a statement.
Hawksmoor chief executive, Sarah Soar said: “Jim will continue to write for the firm, and to lead our climate transition programme in his remaining months. He has played a leading role in Hawksmoor’s development over many years and will leave a legacy to be proud of.”
At the same time, the company appointed Simon Reynolds as head of research. Reynolds, whose career spans more than 25 years, was most recently fund manager, head of multi-manager investments and head of manager research with Octopus. Previously he was with ipac, Barclays Wealth and Investment Management, AXA Investment Managers and Mercer Investments.
Based in Exeter, with offices in Bath, Harrogate, London, Salisbury, Taunton and Worcester, Hawksmoor is a specialist investment and fund management business.
Square Mile Investment Consulting and
Research
London-based Square
Mile has appointed David Holder as senior investment research
analyst in a new role, which involves building out research of
investment companies. Reporting to research director John
Monaghan, he will also provide additional resource to the
20-strong research and consulting team in the analysis of
open-ended funds whilst contributing to the Square Mile’s
consulting output, the firm said.
With over 20 years’ experience in investment strategy research, Holder was previously at Edison Group where he was an associate director, delivering qualitative and quantitative analysis across a range of investment companies. Prior to this, he was a senior investment analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown, responsible for the research of European and UK Equity Income strategies. Earlier roles include senior fund selection specialist at Investec Wealth & Investment and senior analyst at Morningstar.
