Who’s Moving Where In Wealth Management? – CISI, Schroders, Others

The latest moves and appointments in wealth management in the UK, the rest of Europe, the Middle East and other select locations.

The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment 
The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment has appointed James Swaby, Chartered FCSI, as the new president of the Cotswolds branch committee. He takes over from Sandra Paul, consultant at Prestwood Software, the firm said in a statement.

Swaby is a senior investment director at Investec Wealth & Investment, leading the portfolio management team for the region. He oversees a suite of strategies for private clients, trusts and charities, including multi-asset fund portfolios and international direct equities, and he co-manages a family unit trust. He also sits on the CISI Disciplinary & Appeals panel. He started his financial services career in Southeast Asia and has lived in the Cotswolds for over 15 years.

Schroders Personal Wealth 
Schroders Personal Wealth has appointed Justin Blower as regional director for the South and South Wales.

Blower (pictured), who joins in August, will report directly to Ben Waterhouse, chief client officer. He will be responsible for leading SPW’s advice business across the region including Bristol, Cardiff, Oxford and the South West, the firm said in a statement.

Prior to joining SPW, Blower was sales director at M&G Wealth where he led the platform distribution teams for more than seven years. Before that he worked at Ascentric and AXA.

Waterhouse said: “The experience that Justin brings to the role will be a huge benefit not only to the South and South Wales region, but to the whole business. His experience in helping wealth management businesses integrate tech and digital solutions will be invaluable to SPW as we continue on our growth journey...Justin's appointment reflects our continued commitment to the regions and builds on our long-term regional growth strategy.”

Blower added: “This is an exciting time to have joined SPW as it continues to grow its regional presence. We have ambitious plans and I look forward to leading and developing our advice business in the South and South Wales regions.”

Schroders Personal Wealth is a joint venture between Lloyds Banking Group and Schroders.

Sam Murton, who has been working with Progeny as a consultant since 2022, has been appointed as the new chief operating officer.

Murton brings extensive experience in international business consulting, strategic development and people and change management, the firm said in a statement. She has worked with a diverse range of businesses and sectors, including Aegon, easyJet, Three, Orange (EE) and Next plc, supporting companies with scalability and global expansion.

Her remit is to galvanise the team to execute Progeny's strategic plans for the future.

Following her appointment, Murton commented: "Progeny is on an exciting growth trajectory and, having known the team for a number of months, I'm inspired to be surrounded by such a wealth of expertise and ambition, under the dynamic leadership of Neil Moles...With such a solid foundation already in place, I can focus on instilling scalability and capacity via the pillars of Consumer Duty and my ambition is that Progeny is viewed globally as a standard-bearer for professional excellence."
