Who's Moving Where In Wealth Management? – ARC Research, Verso, ALFI, Others

The latest moves, appointments and other personnel changes in the North American wealth management sector.

ARC Research
ARC Research has appointed former Credit Suisse and Odey Wealth Management figure Shaun Le Messurier (pictured) as client director.

Le Messurier, whose career spans more than 30 years, brings a knowledge of portfolio construction, asset allocation and risk assessment to ARC.

Starting at Credit Suisse in Guernsey in 1988, Le Messurier left the Swiss bank in 2008 to launch Guernsey-based Odey Wealth Management, where he was initially responsible for constructing and monitoring a range of risk-rated model portfolios before becoming its risk officer in 2016.

"Shaun's extensive background in managing diverse portfolios, coupled with his deep understanding of risk management, makes him an ideal fit for ARC Research,” Daniel Hurdley, ARC Research managing director, said.

Verso
Verso Investment Management, the discretionary fund management arm of the Verso Wealth Group, has appointed Will Vaughan as client director.

Prior to this, Vaughan worked at Brown Shipley as client advisor, where he created financial plans and investment solutions within tax-efficient wrappers. He will be reuniting with James Robertson, his portfolio management partner at Brown Shipley, who joined Verso earlier this year. They will run Verso’s new investment service – Verso Private Client – launched in July to serve high net worth clients.

ALFI
The Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry has appointed Corinne Lamesch as deputy CEO and general counsel.

With more than 25 years’ experience in the Luxembourg fund industry, Lamesch has worked with firms including Fidelity International and Clifford Chance. At Fidelity International, where she worked for 16 years, Lamesch was conducting officer of Fidelity International’s Luxembourg-based management company from 2015 and was made Luxembourg country head of the firm in 2017.

Lamesch has been involved with ALFI, contributing to technical committees and working groups. She has been an ALFI board member since 2017 and was chairperson of the ALFI board from June 2019 to June 2023. Lamesch was also involved in the conception and launch of the Luxembourg Women in Finance Charter in March 2023, which aims to make the country’s financial centre more diverse.

Lamesch holds two master’s degrees in Law: one from the University of Strasbourg and one from the New York University School of Law. She was admitted as a lawyer to both the Luxembourg Bar and to the New York Bar.

m.advisory
m.advisory has appointed Ian Gobin to join its legal practice in the Cayman Islands.

Gobin, who is a strategic and legal advisor in the investment funds and digital assets markets, has been a lawyer for over 25 years, having worked in London, the Channel Islands and the Cayman Islands.

Gobin advises on the Cayman Islands and UK legal and regulatory aspects of the establishment and regulation of investment managers and investment funds (hedge, private equity and crypto and digital asset funds) as well as crypto/digital asset and blockchain offerings, cross-border finance and general corporate and commercial work.

He started his legal career at Clifford Chance in London – he spent eight years there – before moving to Walkers in the Cayman Islands in 2001, where he became a partner in 2008. He joined Appleby in the Cayman Islands in 2013 as a partner and global head of investment funds. Gobin moved to Harneys, Cayman Islands, in 2017 and became an equity partner and joint global head of investment funds. He subsequently launched Intertrust Law, Cayman Islands, as an equity/founding partner and global managing partner in early 2020 before relocating to the UK and joining Cummings Pepperdine, as a co-owner and partner in March 2022.

Gobin continues to be a partner of Cummings Pepperdine, a boutique English law firm serving investment fund managers and promoters of digital assets in London.
