Vanguard Makes First Appointments In Assault On UK Market, Targets Advisors

US and global fund manager Vanguard has started hiring for its newly-established UK office, which will initially focus on the advisory market. Peter Robertson joins as head of retail services and Richard Wane as chief international legal counsel.

Mr Robertson will be responsible for the firm’s retail-orientated business in the UK.  He and his team will target financial intermediaries including wealth managers, IFAs and mutual fund platform providers.  Mr Robertson joins after spending the previous three years as chief executive and president of Canadian financial services company Manulife’s Malaysia business.

Mr Wane’s role will be to support the legal and compliance infrastructure of Vanguard's business as it develops internationally.  He comes to Vanguard following more than 10 years at Fidelity International where he held legal and compliance positions in Bermuda, Hong Kong and the UK, most recently heading their European legal services team.

Vanguard manages more than $1.2 trillion in assets with over 23 million individual and institutional accounts worldwide, offering more than 150 funds and ETFs to US investors and more than 50 additional funds in non-US markets.
