US-Headquartered Law Firm Adds To International Tax Team

A US-headquartered law firm has added to its international tax team in London, where it had opened an office three years' ago.
US-headquartered law firm Butler Snow has
appointed John Wood to its business services group, based in the
London office that the organisation opened in 2013 to serve
people with links to the US.
Wood will practice with Butler Snow’s international tax team and
relocate to the UK to take up the role, starting from the
beginning of 2017.
As part of his role, Wood focuses on international, federal and
state tax planning, trusts, estate planning, tax controversy and
immigration.
The firm’s international tax team delivers tax and estate
planning advice for individual clients who reside outside of the
US, but who have US business interests, US family members or US
investments.
Before beginning private practice, Wood served as a law clerk for
the US Senate Committee on Judiciary. His responsibilities
included investigating the backgrounds and publications of
nominees for judicial and political appointments and in turn
making recommendations to committee members based on the
nominee’s qualifications and character.
Wood received his undergraduate degree from the University of
Oklahoma and his Juris Doctor and LL M. in taxation from
Georgetown University Law Center. He is admitted to practice in
Oklahoma.
Besides its London office, Butler Snow also has an office in
Singapore and Hong Kong, which it opened this year.
