UK Wealth Manager Brooks Macdonald Says Profits Jumped Almost 100 Per Cent

Brooks Macdonald, the UK-listed wealth management and and financial advisory firm, said today that its pre-tax profit in the six months to 31 December last year surged by 96 per cent to £2.47 million (around $3.7 million).

Revenues rose by 70 per cent to £16.39 million, the firm said in a statement.

As previously announced, discretionary funds under management at 31 December 2009 were £1.852 billion, up from £1.386 billion at 30 June 2009, a rise of 34 per cent. This reflected improved markets and the acquisition of UK firm Lawrence House Fund Managers last September, and continued client inflows.

The firm also opened an office in Edinburgh in September as part of its UK expansion.
