UK Private Client Stockbroker Sees Strong Profit and AUMs Growth

WH Ireland, a Manchester-based private client stockbroker, reported a 22 per cent rise in pre-tax profit to £3.2 million ($5.5 million) in 2005. The firm said its investment management business saw funds under management rise by 34 per cent to £390 million in 2005. WH Ireland expanded its private client business throughout 2005, opening new offices in Leicester, Stockport and its first Scottish office in Kilmarnock. The firm also opened an office in Leeds last month, following the acquisition of TD Waterhouse’s team in the city. Last year, WH Ireland also bought a 51 per cent interest in Australian-based stockbroker DJ Carmichael.
