UK Private Bank Acquires London-Based Family Office

Kleinwort Benson, the UK private bank, has acquired the London-based family office Karrig Strategic Capital, along with appointing two senior private bankers from Schroders.
Karrig is manned by a six-person team headed by Paul Kearney, former chief executive of Cardinal Asset Management and managing director and senior executive officer of Zurich Capital Markets in Europe. Also working under Kearney, responsible for investment and portfolio research, is Gene Salerno, who was head of research at Cardinal Asset Management.
Following the acquisition, for which financial terms were not disclosed, this team will form a new business unit called the Kleinwort Benson Private Investment Office.
The two new appointees are Jeremy Brown and Stephen Campbell, who were part of the ultra high net worth team at Schroders, Brown being head of the firm’s core advisory management business in London. The pair also previously worked together at JP Morgan and are noted for their work with entrepreneurs.
Brown and Campbell will now sit on Kleinwort’s executive committee.
