UBS branch manager ups stakes for new opportunities

Old guard supervisor Mendenhall steps down as head of Houston office. UBS' Houston-branch manager Pat Mendenhall has departed, the Swiss bank has confirmed.

Mendenhall, a 19-year veteran of UBS and its predessessor firm Paine Webber, has stepped down to pursue "other opportunities" in wealth management, says UBS. Appointed branch manager in 1994, he became a managing director of UBS Wealth Management in 2007.

According to reports, Mendenhall had oversight of about $42 billion in sales last year.

Meanwhile, UBS product-development chief Michael Weisberg is away on indefinite leave, says UBS. That's due to personal rather than performance-related issues, the Zurich-based banks adds.

Fixed-income specialist James Hausmann has taken over Weisberg's responsibilities. Hausmann has been with UBS since 2001. -FWR
