UBS Names New Asia-Pacific Chief Operating Officer
The move represents a return to Asia for Wiwi Gutmannsbauer, who has been at the bank since 1998.
UBS has announced that its
chief operating officer for the wealth management arm, Wiwi
Gutmannsbauer, has been appointed as COO for UBS in Asia-Pacific,
adding to his existing role.
As a result of the change, this publication understands that
Gutmannsbauer will relocate from Zurich to
Singapore. His predecessor, Lay-Sie Teo is now the APAC
chief of staff.
The appointment takes effect from 1 January 2025.
Gutmannsbauer’s move represents a return to Asia: he was COO for
APAC from 2018 to 2021; he joined the Swiss bank in 1998. Other
roles include chief operating officer for the EMEA region and
operating head for the wealth management booking centre for
Switzerland and emerging market locations.
At the end of October UBS reported that its global wealth
management arm posted a pre-tax operating profit of $1.085
billion in the three months to the end of September, rising from
$926 million a year ago.
