Top Charities' Assets See Large Rise - New JM Finn Guide

UK-based investment manager JM Finn is sponsoring the 2008 Charity Performance Guide, a guide aimed at peoople interested in the financial management of charities. The guide allows users to find out who runs the UK's top charities and what their objectives are. It lists the senior executives at the biggest UK charities (with more than £5 million in investment assets), together with detailed information on each charity's investment policy, fund structure and management objectives – information the publishers claim is not available in any other published source. According to publishers, DG Publishing, the investment assets of the 1,000 charities included in the guide total over £63 billion, an increase of 17 per cent on the previous year. Michael Maslinski, who as well as being a wealth management consultant, is trustee of several charities, said: “Trustees are under increasing scrutiny and the information provided in the JM Finn & Co. Charity Performance Guide will prove an invaluable tool since it provides such a vast amount of information on the finances of the larger organisations. Trustees are expected to understand clearly the assets which are held in each fund, having a close relationship with the person actually managing the fund, as is the case with JM Finn & Co, is very relevant in this context.”
