Threshold Group brings in director of operations

Platt to oversee integration of investment operations and advisory services. Threshold Group has hired Phil Platt as its director of operations, a new position. Collaborating with the multifamily office's investment advisors and relationship managers to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of information to Threshold's family clients, he'll oversee all operational aspects of Threshold's investment advisory services, including client investment reports, investment transactions, performance data and the efficient pricing and placement of securities.

Platt comes to Threshold from Bellevue, Wash.-based RIA Appropriate Balance Financial Services, where he was COO. Before that, he spent six years as a business manager with Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft, including a stint in the software giant's Game Studios. Earlier in his career he worked in Sprint's corporate strategy group in Overland Park, Kansas, and he was v.p. of operations for a private family office that ran several real estate development and oilfield service companies in Oklahoma City.

Improving processes

"Phil brings valuable leadership and experience to the operational aspects of our investment advisory service," says Threshold's president Ed Lazar. "His work will directly benefit our clients by ensuring our investment advisors remain fully committed to advising clients while we enhance our oversight on the operational pieces of our business."

Threshold recently made a number of appointments, including the hire of Greycourt & Company 's former research chief Peter Wilamoski as its own director of research, another new position at the firm.

Gig Harbor, Wash.-based Threshold began as the family office of Russell Investments ' chairman emeritus George Russell. It provides family-office services and investment-advice on approximately $1.5 billion to 13 families across more than 50 households. In addition to its headquarters on Puget Sound, it has offices in New York and in Portland, Ore. -FWR
