Swiss Regulator Revokes Firm's Licence To Represent Foreign Investment Funds

The Swiss regulator, FINMA, has revoked the licence of Genevalor, Benbassat & Cie to represent foreign investment funds in Switzerland.

The Geneva-based firm distributed the Madoff-linked Thema International Fund. On its website it now says that the fund is no longer registered with FINMA as a foreign collective investment scheme.

Thema money was invested with the now notorious fraudster Bernard Madoff, Le Temps, the francophone Swiss daily newspaper, reported. Shortly after the Madoff scandal came to light, authorities had requested the suspension of trading this Madoff fund, the publication said.

The firm distributed the fund in Switzerland, Germany and France.

Genevalor, Benbassat & Cie was not available for comment when contacted by this publication via email and phone.
