Scotiabank Jamaica Boss Moves To Canada Headquarters

Anya Schnoor, the chief executive and executive vice president for wealth management and insurance at Scotia Investments, is relocating from the Jamaica office to join the firm's Canada headquarters.

It remains unclear what specific role Schnoor will take up but the company has said she will be assuming a developmental role starting 1 November.

"Anya has contributed tremendously to the success of our business in Jamaica and has led the integration of investment firm Dehring Bunting & Golding into Scotiabank Group in 2007. [Her] exposure will prepare her for new opportunities in the future," said Bruce Bowen, the president and CEO of Scotia Group.

Lissant Mitchell, the current chief operating officer of Scotia Investments in Jamaica, will become the new CEO effective 1 November. Mitchell joined Scotia in 2007 at a time Schnoor was consolidating the wealth division. He was promoted to COO in 2010.

Scotiabank Jamaica posted $2.5 billion in net income as of 31 July 2011. Scotiabank is one of the largest banking institutions in North America and has assets of around $567 billion as of 31 July.
