Salamanca Names Senior Trust Manager In Geneva Following Acquisition

Salamanca Group has made four appointments across Switzerland and Jersey to its recently-acquired trust and fiduciary team, including a senior trust manager and team head.
Kati Watson takes this position at the firm’s Geneva office where she will support the trust business and capitalise on the extensive services offered by the private office team, the firm said in a statement.
In this newly-created role, she takes over several responsibilities from former managing director of trusts and fiduciary in Geneva, Paul Douglas, who recently moved to take the same role in Jersey.
Watson has been in the private client and trust industry for the past 18 years, and has spent the past decade at independent trust companies managing multi-jurisdictional structures for international clients in Geneva. Most recently, she held a senior role at ACE International SA - previously a branch of Rathbone Brothers before a management buy-out in 2008, a spokesperson told this publication. Prior to this she worked at UK accountancy practices, focusing on tax matters for high net worth clients. She specialises in aspects relating to UK resident non-domiciled individuals.
Salamanca appointed Watson to grow its trust business at a time when the industry has been experiencing turbulence and change, particularly in Switzerland, it said in a statement.
Since acquiring the trust and fiduciary business from Investec in February this year, Salamanca has made three appointments to the team in Jersey.
In July, Christian Lee became senior trust relationship manager of the UK resident non-domiciled team, moving from HSBC Jersey where he served as trust manager. Additionally, Matt Dutot joined the family office team as senior trust relationship manager, while Freya Russell-Hobson joined the firm’s corporate team as a junior trust administrator. Dutot was previously associate director at Langham Hall Fund Management (Jersey) and Russell Hobson was an administration assitant for trusts at UBS Jersey.
The acquisition brought in roughly £4.5 billion ($7.3 billion) in assets under administration to the firm and is run as a stand-alone trust and fiduciary business. In October, it appointed Paul Douglas as managing director of Salamanca Group Trust and Fiduciary in Jersey.
