Scottish Widows Investment Partnership has taken on Martyn Gilbey as head of wholesale in London, in advance of the looming Retail Distribution Review implementation date of 31 December.
Gilbey starts on 12 November and will report to Francis Ghiloni, director of distribution and client management.
Ghiloni said the RDR brings a "renewed focus" on gaining stand-out through the development and maintenance of relationships with key wholesale clients across all markets, including discretionary, advisory, IFA and platforms.
Gilbey spent the past two years at Mirae Asset Management, initially as chief marketing officer in Hong Kong, responsible for all distribution and marketing in EMEA and Asia, and then as managing director in London. For the eight years prior to that, Gilbey worked at Insight Investment, most recently as head of wholesale and financial institutions. He kicked-off his career with an eight-year stint at Barclays, after having joined the firm's graduate recruitment programme.
In other recent moves, last week the firm bolstered its US fixed income team with the addition of a trio of investment grade credit analysts to its operations in New York: C Ryan Miller, Justin Ziegler and Martin McCudden. These hires closely followed that of Lynda Shillaw as director of real estate, effective from 1 January.
