Rathbone Adds 16 In Scotland

Rathbone Investment Management, the UK-based discretionary investment manager, added 16 new staff from Bank of Scotland Portfolio Management Service to its Edinburgh office.

These appointments (see below for names and positions) are part of Rathbone’s acquisition of Bank of Scotland’s investment management service, a process that started in October 2009. Following these appointments, the firm’s Edinburgh office now has 40 members.

This acquisition has already seen the transfer of around 3,000 clients from Bank of Scotland to Rathbone, the latter firm said in a statement. The portfolios transferred have a combined value of over £568 million ($867 million), bringing the funds under management at Rathbone’s Edinburgh office to £1.75 billion.

“We are delighted to welcome the 16 new joiners and substantially increase our presence in Edinburgh,” said the firm’s chief executive, Andy Pomfret.

“The expansion of our Edinburgh office, coupled with the office we opened earlier this year in Aberdeen, underlines our commitment to growing in Scotland,” he added.
