Profits and Turnover Up at UK Stockbroker

Pre-tax profit at UK private client stockbroker WH Ireland increased by 16 per cent to £3.7 million ($7.23 million) from £3.2 million in 2005. Turnover too was up, by 32 per cent, to £30.3 million. Excluding acquisitions, operating profit was up by 12 per cent to £2.7 million and turnover up by 29 per cent to £29.6 million. In the broker’s IFA business turnover was up by 23 per cent. During the year the firm established a regional office in Leeds through the acquisition of TD Waterhouse's institutional team based in Leeds, together with the addition of a retail stockbroking team and a corporate finance team.
