Olympus Capital Launches Singapore Structured Lending Business

Olympus Capital Asia, the Asia-focused private equity firm, has launched a new structured lending business in Singapore.

Olympus Capital Asia Credit offers financing alternatives to mid-sized companies in Asia-Pacific who are underserved by commercial banks and are looking for other sources of private equity funding. Priority clients will be those from South East Asia, India, Australia and North Asia.

OCA Credit is largely funded by the company's regional PE fund Olympus Capital Asia III. It will provide some $20 million to $100 million in structured loans with two to three-year maturities.

Nitish Agarwal, who joins the firm from Barclays, will lead the unit as managing director and chief investment officer. Gary Stead, former founder and managing director of Australian structured credit fund Shearwater Capital, steps in as managing director.

Olympus Capital Asia has a team of investment professionals and advisors representing over 40 portfolio companies across Hong Kong, New Delhi, Shanghai, Tokyo, Seoul, New York and now Singapore. It has invested at least $1.8 billion of equity capital since it started in 1997.
