Offshore law firms Appleby Spurling Hunter and Jersey-based Bailhache Labesse completed their merger on 1 September 2006. The combined group is called Appleby Hunter Bailhache, with a presence in four offshore business centres – Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands and Jersey – as well as offices in London and Hong Kong. It has 45 partners and approximately 600 staff worldwide. The firm offers corporate and commercial advice, services related to insurance, funds and investment, asset finance, banking, capital markets, dispute resolution, insolvency and restructuring, trusts and real property, telecommunications and technology. Complementing the firm’s offshore legal services are trust, corporate administration and company accounting and management services. “Our strategy is to be the leading provider of legal, fiduciary and administration services in the offshore world,” said Peter Bubenzer, global managing partner.
