OMGI Appoints Distribution Boss For Middle East, Nordics

The asset management arm of the UK's Old Mutual Wealth has created a senior position within its international distribution team.
Old Mutual Global Investors has hired Simon Barrett as head of Middle East and Nordic distribution.
Barrett joins after more than a decade at Martin Currie Investment Management where he was most recently director of international sales and client service. Before this, he spent four years as head of Nordic sales at Allianz Dresdner Asset Management. He brings over 20 years’ experience working in the Nordic region, and speaks Swedish, Danish and Norwegian.
In the newly created role, Barrett will target wealth managers and global financial institutions in the Middle East and Nordic regions. Based in Edinburgh, he will report to Allan MacLeod, OMGI's head of international distribution.
The new appointment follows that of Dominic Issler, who joined the business in April as head of DACH (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) distribution. As of the end of June, OMGI had assets under management of £22.4 billion ($34.5 billion).
“We are increasingly focused on expanding our international distribution and evolving our client base. Success in these regions will be a key driver for the future growth of the business. Simon has a great deal of industry experience and his appointment will enable us to better service the unique needs of clients in the Middle East and Nordic regions,” said MacLeod.
