Newly-Formed Firm Hires Duo For European, Latin America Teams

The two managerial appoints comes after the new firm was formed after a merger between a US-based and a UK-based company.
Newly-created Janus
Henderson Investors has appointed two senior members to
the European and Latin America teams. This news comes days after
Janus and Henderson merged to form the new company.
Steven de Vries has been made the head of global financial
institutions and Ignacio de la Maza has been appointed head of
continental Europe wholesale & Latin America, the firm said in a
statement last week.
They will both report to Greg Jones, head of distribution, EMEA &
Latin America. To support de Vries in his new role, the firm has
said it will make an additional hire in the coming months.
De Vries joined Henderson Global Investors in 2001 and has more
than 20 years’ experience in the asset management industry. Prior
to Henderson, he worked for AXA Investment Managers and ING
Group.
De la Maza will continue to manage sales for LatAm and Iberia
alongside his new role. He has worked in the industry for 15
years and joined Henderson Global Investors in 2009 following the
acquisition of New Star Asset Management.
“Strengthening our senior distribution team with these global and
wholesale appointments, reflects the significant role that Steven
and Ignacio have played in driving business growth over the past
five years,” said Jones. “In these mature markets it is vital to
maintain and broaden our appeal in global financial relationships
and wholesale distribution. Now, with the merger complete, and at
least a quarter of our work force placed in distribution, we hope
to consolidate our position and continue to build on our strong
client base.”
This publication reported last week that
Henderson Global Investors and Janus Capital merged together
to form Janus Henderson Investors.
