Newly Launched London Firm Looks To Create

A new independent company, Allium Capital, has been launched by the ex-directors of Octopus Investments to support financial services firms in designing and launching what Allium calls the “next generation” of investment companies to the UK market.

Allium's proposition is to help its partners build a more robust business model that offers greater flexibility, transparency and profitability. In addition, Allium aims to structure next generation investment companies in such a way as to allow fund managers to tap into new distribution models and to focus on driving real value for investors.

Allium said in a statement that it is already in advanced talks with a number of leading financial services companies to help them leverage their ongoing relationships with clients. However, Allium said that its activities will not be limited to financial services firms as the company foresees that in the future fund management companies might well be launched by any number of household names, from car manufacturers to football clubs.

“We are very excited by the challenge ahead of us and what we aim to achieve.  We looked at the traditional way investment companies are structured and how we could re-structure operating models to enhance value for stakeholders,” said Ronan Kearney, Allium's managing director.

“We will work with partners to ensure the right structures are in place for new fund management companies to perform.  We are keenly aware that at the end of the day the money belongs to investors and we are here to ensure we drive value for both distributors and their clients.”

Allium, which has the financial backing of Dexion Capital, offers consultation, planning, implementation, marketing and training services, as well ongoing support for partners.

The founders of Allium, who worked together as directors of Octopus Investments, have all held senior positions within fund management, stock broking, and distribution companies.
