New Pacific Ex-Japan Fund From French Asset Manager

TOBAM, the French asset manager, has unveiled a new fund aimed to seek diversification across the Pacific ex-Japan region.

TOBAM said that the fund, which is supported by seed funding from Seven Investment Management, will avoid the sector, country and style biases of more traditional allocation methods such as market-cap weighting.

The Anti-Benchmark Pacific ex-Japan Equity Fund aims to outperform the MSCI Pacific ex-Japan equity cap-weighted benchmark by 4 to 6 per cent a year and deliver significantly less volatility.

“Foreign investors look to markets such as Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Hong Kong as a source of diversification,” said Yves Choueifaty, the firm's president.
