Morgan Stanley PWM Appoints New Chief Investment Officer For EMEA

Morgan Stanley’s private wealth management arm has appointed former Deutsche Bank man Martyn Surguy as its chief investment officer, responsible for all of the firm’s discretionary investment actions in the EMEA region.

He takes over from Chris Godding, who left to join Signia Wealth, the UK-based multi-family office, early this year. Godding was appointed co-chief CIO at that firm.

Among his responsibilities, Surguy will also be responsible for managing portfolio managers in Europe within the private wealth management business.

He previously worked at Deutsche Bank/Morgan Grenfell, where he spent 16 years, during which he was chief investment officer for private wealth investment management in London, international head of discretionary portfolio management, and most recently head of portfolio management for the UK.

Prior to his career at Deutsche Bank/Morgan Grenfell, Surguy was a portfolio manager for international private wealth clients at Rothschild.
