Macquarie Capital Appoints Head of India

Macquarie Capital Advisers has announced the appointment ofGaurav Gupta as head of India.

Mr Gupta, who most recently was the head of telecommunications, media and financial services for India at Nomura, will be based in Mumbai and reports toKalpana Desai, Macquarie Capital's deputy head of Asia.

The company has a significant presence in the south Asian country and has advised on some of the most successful transactions in the area, including the largest-ever Indian IPO of Reliance Power. Its range of services cover corporate finance and advisory, cash equities sales and research, infrastructure funds management, and private wealth management.

"We have built a strong platform in India and Gaurav's relationships and strong origination capabilities across sectors will help us to maintain this momentum and grow our business in India further," said Ms Desai in a statement.

Macquarie Capital Advisers has been operating in India since 2005 and has over 90 staff in New Delhi and Mumbai.
