London-based Momentum Global Investment Management, part of the South African insurance group Momentum, has hired Kris Richmond as a hedge fund analyst.

Richmond will be focusing on various hedge fund strategies, including macro, fixed income arbitrage and volatility. In his previous role at PAAMCO he covered long/short equity, event driven, volatility and convertible bond arbitrage strategies.

The bulk of Richmond’s research in his new role will be for Momentum’s flagship fund of hedge fund strategies, Global Spread Capture and Focused Opportunities. 

The appointment of Richmond “highlights Momentum’s continued commitment to the alternative strategies sector”, the firm said in a statement. Momentum specialises in providing bespoke multi-managed portfolios for institutional investors and alternative investing strategies, comprising funds of hedge funds and segregated portfolios. It serves institutions and intermediaries and their clients in Europe, the Middle and Far East and South Africa and had $4 billion in assets under management at end-2011.
