London-based hedge fund manager Trafalgar Capital Management has joined with New Zealand firm David Copley to form a joint venture to create products for the growing Australasian market. The venture, to be called Trafalgar Copley, is backed by Frist New Zealand Capital and plans to launch its first product, a blended long and short fund, later this year. Now based in Auckland, David Copley is a former Boston-based executive director with UBS. He will be managing director and chief investment officer of the new venture together with Trafalgar Capital's Chris Aarons.
