Legal Counsel To Exit EY Switzerland

The Swiss arm of EY, formerly known as Ernst & Young, has split the responsibilities of its long-standing legal counsel upon his departure.

Thomas Sauber, head of the Zurich office and legal counsel of EY Switzerland, is to retire. He will hand over to Roger Müller and Jvo Grundler at the end of June.

Sauber has served as legal counsel at EY Switzerland since 2003. He will leave the firm at the end of November. Since 2011, he has also served as legal counsel of EY's EMEIA financial services organisation, covering Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa.

In addition to their new responsibilities, Müller and Grundler will continue in their current Switzerland-focused roles at the firm, as leader of the financial accounting advisory services team and managing partner legal respectively. Müller joined EY in 2001 and Grundler joined a year later.

The reshuffle comes after EY in March named Marcel Stalder as the new chief executive for Switzerland. As of July, he will replace Bruno Chiomento, who will serve as chairman of the board of directors.

Last month, EY Switzerland hired Oliver Blum as partner and head of mergers and acquisitions in legal services, a role previoulsy held by Grundler.
