LGT Wealth Management Targets Northwest UK

The move reflects investment in regional growth that will see the firm develop its presence across the UK in 2024.

LGT Wealth Management, a UK-based wealth manager, has just announced plans to open its first office in Manchester and to expand its presence in Birmingham with new premises.

The Manchester office will open in March 2024; Mike Stirrup, formerly of Artorius Wealth and UBS, will join as a wealth planner, together with Matthew Stevenson, who is joining from Evelyn Partners as a trainee investment manager.

LGT Wealth Management said it will continue to build the team over the coming months, adding expertise for clients in the wider Northwest region.

In Birmingham, LGT Wealth Management said it will be moving into new offices to accommodate the growth of its local business, with the addition of the team that joined following the acquisition of abrdn Capital, as well as the recent hire, Tom Stone, who joined as investment manager after 12 years at Quilter Cheviot.

The acquisition of abrdn Capital in 2023 accelerated LGT Wealth Management’s regional expansion strategy with the addition of teams in Birmingham and Leeds. The acquisition also complemented growth at existing locations in London and Jersey, the Bristol office, established in 2016 and the Edinburgh office, which opened in 2022, the firm said.

Ben Snee, CEO of LGT Wealth Management stressed that Manchester and Birmingham have always been important to the firm. He aims to develop their strengths in these regions with new talent and perspectives.

LGT Wealth Management has offices in London, Jersey, Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds and Birmingham. It is part of the LGT Group, an international private banking and asset management group that has been controlled by the Liechtenstein Princely Family for over 90 years, managing assets of £269 billion ($341.8 billion) for private individuals and institutional clients.
