Kames Capital, the UK asset management arm of Aegon, has promoted Claire McGuckin to co-manager of the Kames High Yield Bond Fund, working alongside Phil Milburn.

McGuckin joined Kames in 2012 from L&G Investment Management, where she was a portfolio manager, and has 19 years’ industry experience. 

She replaces Melanie Mitchell, who is stepping down from the fund to manage investment grade portfolios within the firm.

In a further move, Stephen Baines has joined the high yield team as a fixed income manager from Oriel Asset Management.

Baines has nine years of financial markets experience and started his career at Baillie Gifford, before moving to Babson Capital Europe.

In other recent news, Kames appointed Scott Flemingas fund manager on its fixed income team.
