KPMG Adds Consulting To Family Business Unit

The global accountancy and professional services firm has boosted its family business capabilities.

KPMG has hired Ken McCracken to drive its new consulting offering to the family business market.

McCracken, a fellow of the Family Firm Institute, brings extensive experience in family enterprises with a focus on governance and transitions. He joins the London-based team from Withers Consulting Group, where he was joint managing director.

His appointment follows that of Catherine Grum, who joined KPMG in October last year to lead its family office service. This was created as part of the firm's enterprise initiative, a strategic investment totalling £40 million ($57 million), aimed at expanding service offerings in the UK.

KPMG's family business practice is headed up by Gary Deans.

“Generating, preserving and diversifying family wealth through business interests requires careful and professional management, often involving the establishment and maintenance of good family and business governance structures,” said Deans in a statement.

“Ken is an authority in this area and teaming his knowledge and empathy with KPMG’s technical and commercial know-how gives us a powerful holistic family business consulting offer.”
