Julius Baer Revs Up Formula E Partnership

The Swiss private bank has extended its deal with the world’s first fully-electric racing series till the end of season five.

Julius Baer is extending its partnership with the FIA Formula E Championship, a competition of motor races around the world involving cars entirely powered by electricity, until 2019.

Last year, the Zurich-listed bank became the exclusive global partner for the championship, which it called “an ideal long-term sponsorship platform” given its visionary approach and global reach. The partnership no doubt reflects the bank's drive by to set a distinctive, forward-looking image.

The inaugural championship started in Beijing in September 2014 and included 10 races in major cities around the world including Buenos Aires, Berlin, Monte Carlo and London. The second championship season 2015-16 is due to start in Beijing on 24 October.

In 2016-17, Formula E will come to Hong Kong, which Julius Baer says is an important location for the bank in its “second home market Asia”.

“Since the beginning of the partnership, Julius Baer and Formula E have shared common values such as innovation, sustainability and pioneering spirit. We look forward to continuing to adhere to these values and to share a vision of a world with more sustainable means of transport,” said Julius Baer's chief executive, Boris Collardi.

“It is wonderful to bring the Formula E Championship to Hong Kong in 2016, which really shows the attraction of this international city. Not only does the series’s pioneering spirit meet our business and brand needs in a key market like Hong Kong, it is also an effective platform for us to engage with the communities in which we operate,” said Julius Baer's deputy region head, Asia-Pacific, and chief executive, North Asia, Kaven Leung.
