Julius Baer Hires Ex Credit Suisse Bankers

Swiss private bank Julius Baer makes senior hires to expand its Iberian, Middle East and African coverage.

Julius Baer said in an internal memo seen by WealthBriefing on Friday that it has made six senior appointments, to expand its Iberian, Middle East and African coverage from Zurich.

Ramon Marco, Enric Mateu and Fernando Pedraza all joined Julius Baer as senior relationship managers from Credit Suisse in September, the firm said.

Marco worked for 22 years at Credit Suisse. Since 2016, he was head of Iberia International in the international wealth management division. Prior to that, he spent seven years as head of wealth planning Iberia International, the firm continued.

Since 2016, Mateu was a senior relationship manager for the Iberia International desk at Credit Suisse. Prior to that, he spent five years as a senior investment consultant based first in Geneva, and later in Zurich.

Pedraza was also a senior relationship manager for the Iberia International desk in Zurich at Credit Suisse. He also spent three years in Madrid working as a relationship manager for Credit Suisse, the firm added.

“They are highly experienced professionals with proven track records in successfully servicing Iberian clients over many years. I am certain they will make a significant contribution to further strengthening and growing this core market,” Carlos Recoder, sub region head Western, Northern Europe and Luxembourg, said.

Middle East & Africa
The firm also welcomed three new colleagues for the Middle East & Africa desk in Zurich during the summer months. Roberto Faoro has joined as deputy team head along with senior relationship managers Moetaz Eid and Muhammad Salahuddin. The have covered ultra high net worth and HNW individuals in the Middle East.

Faoro, who has over 35 years of experience, previously worked as managing director at Crescendo Capital, and deputy head for UHNW clients – in the Middle East – at Credit Suisse in Zurich, the firm continued.

Eid has more than 15 years of experience in the financial industry covering clients from the Middle East across different jurisdictions including the UK, the Middle East, and Switzerland. His expertise spans a range of areas, including consulting, derivatives trading, asset management, and wealth management services. Eid, who has joined as a senior relationship manager from Crescendo Capital, spent more than 10 years at Credit Suisse prior to that, the firm said.

Salahuddin previously worked at Credit Suisse where he was a senior relationship manager for the Middle East desk in Zurich. He also gained investment banking and corporate finance experience while working at Axis Strategic Partners in Dubai and Investec in London respectively, the firm continued.

“While we have a strong positioning in the Middle East with advisory offices in Dubai, Manama and Doha as well as Middle East teams in Geneva and London, it is always key for me and Philipp Kleinschnittger, group head Middle East & Africa Zurich, to further strengthen our coverage out of Zurich,” Régis Burger, global head of the Middle East & Africa, said.
