JM Finn Renews Cricket Sponsorship

The agreement is yet another example of how banks and wealth managers sponsor sports teams and individuals to promote brands.
UK wealth management house JM Finn has continued its
sponsorship deal with Surrey Cricket Club. The firm’s name will be
the new brand for part of the Oval ground, one of the most famous
such sporting venues in the world.
As part of the agreement, the Vauxhall end stand will now be
known as the JM Finn Stand until at least the summer of 2025. In
a normal season it will host over 100,000 cricket fans watching
Test Matches, One Day Internationals and Surrey matches in the
Vitality T20 Blast.
The deal extends the club’s association with JM Finn to sixteen
years, making the wealth manager Surrey CCC’s longest standing
sponsor.
The agreement is yet another example of how banks and wealth
managers sponsor sports teams and individuals to promote brands.
Only yesterday, Serbian tennis ace Novak Djokovic became brand
ambassador for Vienna-based banking group, Raiffeisen. In cricket,
Brooks
Macdonald, another UK wealth manager, sponsors Middlesex
Cricket Club, which is based at Lord’s. Natwest currently
sponsors the English cricket team. The relationship is not always
smooth: in 2019, South Africa-based Standard Bank said it wasn’t
renewing its agreement as title sponsor for men’s cricket under
Cricket South Africa.
