UK-headquartered Investec Wealth & Investment is expanding its Edinburgh and Glasgow teams, having made several hires from Barclays and Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management.

In Glasgow, David Kerr and Lisa Brown will be joining IW&I from Barclays as investment directors. Also joining from Barclays are Stephen Cotter, financial planning director, Mary Young as an associate investment director, and administrative assistants Alison Eke, Lisa Forker and Charlene Fallon.

In addition, the firm has added former DeAWM employees Gary Laing and Carole Anderson to its Edinburgh office. Laing and Anderson will take on the roles as investment director and administrative assistant, respectively.

“While some rivals are retreating, we are expanding our presence in Scotland, which we view as a vital and highly attractive market. These latest recruits are evidence of our long-term commitment to growing our business here,” said Tom Street, head of investment management at IW&I.

The hires follow recent senior appointments in both Edinburgh and Glasgow, where IW&I added Alastair Cumming, Clifford George, George Hunt and David Paterson from Barclays, in addition to Grant Milne, David Henderson, Gordon McAndrew and Ian Smith from DeAWM.

Part of the Investec group, IW&I offers wealth management and investment services to private individuals, charities, trusts, international clients and financial advisers. As at 30 June 2013 the firm had £22 billion ($35.4 billion) of client funds under management.
