International Law Firm Boosts London Private Client Team

McDermott Will & Emery, the international law firm, has brought on an experienced US tax lawyer in London.

Chicago-headquartered McDermott Will & Emery has appointed Charles (Chuck) Lubar as senior counsel within its London private client group.

Lubar, formerly of the chief counsel’s office of the US' Internal Revenue Service, has extensive experience in handling international tax and estate structuring and planning for individuals and their assets, as well as corporate and individual tax planning for international investments and cross-border family business matters. He has particular experience in advising clients in the film, recording and publishing industries.

“His arrival is yet another step in the dynamic expansion of the London Private Client practice which has already trebled its headcount since its launch in 2009,” said Hugh Nineham, head of McDermott’s London office.

“In the last year alone, we have welcomed four new partners to our London Private Client team. Chuck’s appointment will further support our strategic goal of being the first port of call for wealthy families and individuals seeking holistic, international advice.”

McDermott, which has a team of 75 lawyers, advises high net worth individuals, family offices and closely held businesses on a range of international wealth planning issues.
