Indian Bank Launches Premium Credit Card For Women

HDFC Bank, the Indian financial services firm, has launched premium credit cards aimed at female clients.

Solitaire Premium, the new card, has a credit limit of Rs5 lakh (Rs 1 lakh = Rs100,000; Rs5 lakh = approx. $9,700).

The launch coincides with its goal to increase its credit card clientele by 4 million over the next two years.

"We want to hit 10 million credit cards in next two years and want the women's portfolio to significantly contribute to this with 2 million cards," said Pralay Mondal, country head for HDFC.

The bank is currently the biggest issuer of credit cards in the country and has around six million credit card customers, 1.5 million of whom are women.
