HSBC Asset Management's Sales Boss Joins Barings

Global investment manager Barings has bolstered its Asia sales team with ex-HSBC senior sales man Edmund Chong.

London-headquartered Baring Asset Management has hired HSBC's Edmund Chong as head of sales, client service and business development – distribution, Asia excluding Japan.

Chong joins from his position as head of sales, wholesale business at HSBC Asset Management. Based in Hong Kong, he will report to Barings' chief executive, Asia excluding Japan, Gerry Ng.

He has previously held roles at BNP Paribas Investment Partners, SG Asset Management and Franklin Templeton.

“I am pleased to welcome Edmund to Barings. He brings deep experience of the industry and our key distributors to the firm and joins to lead the mutual fund distribution business at an exciting time as we prepare to launch the Barings Hong Kong domiciled fund range,” said Ng.
