HSBC Amanah Malaysia has strengthened its retail banking and wealth management business in the country with a new director. 

Rizwan Jawaid joins from HSBC Global Amanah, where he worked for over seven years most recently as head of the bank's credit cards business in Saudi Arabia. He had also previously served key roles at the firm's UK and UAE offices. 

HSBC Amanah Malaysia is a Islamic financial services division of the HSBC Group. Last month, the firm opened its first branch in East Malaysia to complement a series of branch launches over the last several months. The company says it plans to have 26 branches in the country by 2013.
