Goldman Sachs Mulls Opening Its Doors In Chile - Report
Goldman Sachs is considering opening a representative office in Chile's capital, Santiago, Bloomberg reports.
The US bank expects to make a decision on the matter “relatively soon,” Michael DuVally, a New York-based spokesman at Goldman Sachs, reportedly told the newswire during a phonecall from Santiago, which he is visiting.
According to the report, DuVally said Goldman already manages wealth for Chilean families, having helped arrange two Chilean bond sales this year - both for Banco Santander Chile.
Goldman Sachs currently serves its Latin American through offices in Geneva, Miami and São Paulo. The firm also has an office in Buenos Aires.
In other recent news, last month it emerged that the Wall Street gian't long-standing chief financial officer, David Viniar, is stepping down after over three decades at the firm, to be replaced by the bank's current global co-head of securities. Harvey Schwartz will take the reins as CFO at the end of January 2013.
