Global Media, Data Giant Names NYC-Based Wealth Management Boss

One of the world's leading news and information services has announced a wealth management head, to be based in the US.

Thomson Reuters, the global information, data and media organisation, has appointed David Akellian as managing director of wealth management. Akellian will be based in New York and report to Abel Clark, managing director for the financial sector. He takes over from John Fennelly, who had held the same role, a spokesperson told WealthBriefing when asked about the matter.

In his new role, Akellian will lead the company’s North American wealth management business, which delivers a suite of integrated front-office and back-office technology solutions to wealth management firms to manage daily brokerage operations and regulatory and compliance requirements.

This publication is in contact with Thomson Reuters to establish if the role is a newly created one.

Akellian has more than 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry. He previously worked at LPL Financial, where he was most recently executive vice president and head of platform solutions.

He has also been chairman and CEO of Century Securities Associates, a subsidiary of Stifel Financial and as managing director and head of global clearing and execution services for Merrill Lynch, as well as chief operating officer and head of investment manager services for the Pershing division of Donaldson, Lufkin, & Jenrette.
