Former Standard Life Investments Team Joins Old Mutual Global Investors

Old Mutual Global Investors, the asset management arm of the UK's Old Mutual Wealth, has hired a former Ignis fixed income team.

A fixed income absolute return team from Standard Life Investments has joined Old Mutual Global Investors to drive a new range of absolute return government bond products at the firm.

Old Mutual Global Investors brought on the team to complement its existing nine-strong fixed income team and to focus on a new suite of absolute return government bond products it plans to launch this autumn.

The team, joining from Standard Life Investments' UK-based subsidiary, Ignis Asset Management, is led by Russ Oxley. He brings over 17 years' investment management experience to Old Mutual Global Investors.

In the newly created role as head of fixed income absolute return, Oxley will work alongside his former Ignis colleagues Huw Davies, Joshua Heming, Adam Purzitsky, Paul Shanta and Jin Wong.

“Russ and his team are an excellent strategic and cultural fit and an exciting and dynamic addition to the business. The team has generated strong alpha, which has resulted in strong asset growth,” said Old Mutual Global Investors' chief executive, Julian Ide.

“In addition to over £4 billion assets in the Ignis absolute return government bond fund, the team managed substantial assets in a combination of LDI [liability driven investment] and other rates mandates.”
