The former family office principals at Rothstein Kass, which was recently acquired by KPMG, have spun off the group and launched Flynn Family Office, an independent New York City-based firm, through Focus Financial Partners.

Led by Rick Flynn and Evan Jehle, Flynn Family Office provides family office and business management services to ultra high net worth individuals, families and their advisors. The firm counts a team of over 30 tax, accounting, family office, business management and wealth management professionals who also join from Rothstein Kass.

As reported earlier this month, KPMG entered into an agreement with Rothstein Kass - the global assurance, tax and advisory firm - through which it will acquire most of the latter firm’s principals and employees. The transaction, the terms of which were not disclosed, is expected to close in the coming weeks. The move adds weight to a wave of M&A activity in recent months and years in the wealth management arena and financial services industry at large.

Flynn, now managing partner of FFO, works with families, entrepreneurs, executives, athletes, artists and entertainers, as well as their advisory teams. He advises clients on matters including advanced planning, wealth enhancement and asset protection. Prior to founding FFO, Flynn was principal-in-charge of the Family Office Group at Rothstein Kass, having previously served as chief operating officer of a Nasdaq small-cap entertainment company.

Jehle, a partner at FFO, provides accounting, tax and business consulting services to ultra-wealthy clients including celebrities, athletes, asset managers and executives. With a strong background in financial reporting, analysis, investment portfolio aggregation, tax planning and compliance, he oversees accounting procedures and internal control for FFO. Jehle was a principal in the Rothstein Kass Family Office Group, managing accounting, bill pay, and budgeting as well as cash flow and document management.
