Fieldpoint Private Adds Women's Financial Literacy Expert In NYC

Fieldpoint Private has appointed Susan Hirshman to its private wealth management team in New York City.

Fieldpoint Private has appointed Susan Hirshman to its private wealth management team in New York City.

Hirshman was previously the president of SHE, a consulting firm focused on promoting financial literacy among women globally. She has done wide-ranging work in this area, include speaking at conferences throughout the US and publishing a book.

Before working at SHE, Hirshman was a managing director in JP Morgan’s private wealth management group. Earlier still, she worked at KPMG advising corporate executives, families and business owners on tax and financial planning issues.

In bringing expertise to the firm on financial empowerment and literacy for women, she adds a highly-coveted skill set.

"Susan has broken new ground in financial advice for women, and her deep and diverse professional education has equipped her well to advise on even the most complex, interconnected needs of wealthy women and families," said Robert Matthews, Fieldpoint Private president and chief executive.

As Jewelle Bickford, a senior strategist at GenSpring Family Offices who runs the firm’s Women and Wealth Initiative, recently told this publication, advisors realize that “women are the growth market.” She also said that every big-name firm on Wall Street was creating programs specially designed for female clients. “I mean, you can’t open the papers without seeing it,” said Bickford. For its part, Fieldpoint - launched in 2008 - has been expanding this year, unveiling new Park Avenue offices in January to cater for a growing client base in the area. Since, it has added a number of staff in the city, bringing in a New York-based advisory team in January which had previously managed nearly $1 billion in assets at Wilmington Trust.

In March it hired Robert Rigoroso as managing director for its office in New York. He joined from Bank of America’s US Trust unit, where he advised on roughly $1.5 billion of assets for families and institutions.

In May, the firm brought in Jeffrey Ferraro as a managing director in NY. He also previously worked at US Trust, where he advised on $1.3 billion in assets for approximately 40 clients.

In June, it brought in NY managing director David Zoll, and Bill Kennedy as chief investment officer.

Fieldpoint offers a range of wealth management and strategy, family office, private banking and business banking services.
